This Week’s Ten Ton Studios Sketch Challenge…Amalgam!
This week’s sketch challenge at Ten Ton Studios was to draw a character from DC and Marvel’s Amalgam comics, where characters from both universes were thrown together to form their own strange creations. Batman and Wolverine became “Dark Claw”…Superman and Captain America became the “Super Soldier”…Howard the Duck and Lobo became “Lobo the…” well, you get the idea.
I decided to pick a character that had been mentioned in the books, but never shown; giving me creative freedom with the sketch. The character was referred to as “Doomnaut” at the end of a Super Soldier story. Whether this was meant to be a splice of Doomsday and Juggernaut, or a splice of Dr Doom and Juggernaut, I have no idea…I went with the one I thought made the most sense.

Final Round of Mars Attacks! Sketch Cards
Thanks are due to Topps Cards for including me on this. I’ve been a huge Mars Attacks fan for a loooong time, and doing these has been a blast!
I hope whoever gets these cards feels like they got their money’s worth, ‘cause I know I got a lot out of their creation.
These were my first sketch cards ever…my first time working with quality markers and colored pencils, and I learned some neat tricks…I developed a new love for the brush pen. And, working on these sketches every day for over a month seems to have lit the pilot light on my creative fire…given my artistic goals a jump start, if you will.
Here’s to carrying that over into the next project!
Brak-Brak Brak! That is all.

Latest Approved Mars Attacks Sketches
I never say anything for these, but I had to mention a few points…
1. You have no idea how hard it is to do a tiny sketch of Big Ben in less than half an hour (the time limit I gave myself for most of the sketch cards) and keep it recognizable. YMMV on how well I did.
2. The arm on the guy in the middle image is WILDLY off, and I apologize for it.
3. The baby Martian’s cute, huh?
